The author truly kept my attention for the whole book (which I couldn't put down) because of his style of writing. His knowledge about health and weight loss the no-carb way and the fun and direct way he expressed it was very cool.... way to go and thanks for opening my eyes on this matter of starch, sugar, carbohydrates = bad and fat, protein = GREAT.
this is my 2nd keto diet book. dont expect more than the basics of the keto diet and for anyone starting the diet be aware of 'keto flu' (mentioned in book) it kicked my butt first time around and caused me to go back to my bad habits i am motivated again after reading this book.
I appreciated the author's wit and his ability to laugh at himself. This was a fast paced book with information to keep in mind while trying to get on the road for good health. Most of all, I liked the fact that the author shared his experiences in a way that was not preachy, but was honest and motivational.
Very pleasant read. It made me laugh. Reading this book just made me realize that my weight loss goal should not be a struggle. He gives very simple advice that makes you wonder "why didn't I think of that". Great motivating book! Now I'm eager to change my life! Thank you Alton Bock!
This book is a short book but I liked that about it. It's one that you can get valuable information from and not spend weeks reading. I did enjoy knowing what I was already incorporating into my diet was either good...or bad so that I can make some modifications for the better. Thanks for the job well done!
Alton Bock is a talented writer with an engaging sense of humor. Who better to discuss weight loss than someone who's been there, done that? As a life-long yoyo dieter, I found his ideas refreshing. This is his personal journey from fat guy to fitness. I must admit, this little e-book makes a lot of sense. I'm actually inspired to give fitness another go. Hats off to the author for sharing, losing lots of weight, and making me laugh...and think! Nice job!
If you're looking for a long detailed diet explanation with meal plans move along to something else. (There are probably a zillion other choices for that) If you want to hear a real overweight person's honest account of how he lost a considerable amount of weight with a hint of humor and motivation this is for you. It is short and sweet, easily read in a day with some logical advice minus all the politically correct fluff and medical jargon. Some will definitely disagree with the advice, but if you do you won't have lost more than an hour of your time.
This book is a quick read but full of good energy and information. I think the appeal of this book is that it is so short, it's full of humor, and it points out a lot of the inconsistencies in nutrition. He refers to Gary Taubes for research, which is always a win. The other thing I liked is that it's about feeling good and getting to a healthy weight. It's not about becoming a supermodel overnight. It's about reclaiming who we are and being better than ever.
